Surface Treatment

Oakite has many years’ experience with pickling stainless steel and aluminium. We have a pickling basin of 4 x 2.5 x 1.5 metres in which materials can be fully submerged. Materials that are too large for the basin can be treated by means of spray pickling in a special hall with a floor covered with acid-proof plastic. After pickling, the materials are demineralised with a high-pressure spraying pistol and then passivated by exposure to air.

Oakite is also the right address for removing paint coatings from surfaces. We use a caustic basin of 4 x 1 x 1.2 metres that can be heated to 90o Celsius. After having been submerged, materials are sprayed under high pressure.

Another method for removing paint coatings is by water blasting with our 2,500-bar high-pressure unit. As water is used exclusively – no blasting agent is involved – only paint and rust are removed, whereas vulnerable parts, such as screw thread and other mechanically worked areas, are not damaged.
